Active violin & viola player
Parisa Pirzadeh is an accomplished violinist and violist with an extensive background in performance, education, and research. Originally from Iran, she also holds British citizenship and began studying violin at the age of 10 at Tehran Music School and later pursued a professional career as a violist with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra for four years. She earned her M.A. in Music Performance with First Class Honors from Tehran University of Art and later obtained a Master of Music Performance from the University of Manchester, further deepening her expertise in both Western and Eastern musical traditions.
Her performance career spans both solo and ensemble work across multiple countries, including collaborations with Czech Television Sound Stage and numerous orchestras in the UK. Since immigrating to the UK, she has performed with the Queen Charlotte Orchestra (celebrating Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), Northern Film Orchestra, Chineke Orchestra, and more. She recently performed Telemann’s Viola Concerto with the Baroque Strings Orchestra at the University of Manchester and participated in a masterclass with the Danel Quartet.
Beyond performance, Parisa is a dedicated educator and researcher. She has worked as a violin and viola instructor at Tehran Music School, One Education Music Organization, and Pouriamehr Music Studio. As an Associate Researcher and Presenter at the Breaking the Code Conference at the University of Manchester, she has led discussions on the inclusion of refugee artists. She has also facilitated creative music workshops for organizations such as Music Action International, Horizons Festival, and the Royal Exchange Theatre.
Her artistic work extends into composition and publication, with credits including the album Vocalise, which won a plaque of honor at the Fajr International Music Festival, and the book Investigating the Comparative Performance Features of Persian Ghaychak and Violin Alto. She has also composed for film, including the soundtrack for Don’t Tell Anyone.
Parisa’s commitment to cultural and musical exploration is further reflected in her performances of Persian Sufi music on the ancient Ghaychak, blending music with whirling dervish dance and poetry. Recognized for her contributions to the arts, she has received numerous awards, including a finalist position at the 2024 Northern Cultural Education Awards and recognition at the Manchester Culture Awards.
